Hello World! (Again) Februrary 1, 2013

About a month ago, the team here at Camouflaj realized that République has been out of the public eye for a very long time. (Eight months, in fact.) The team has been extremely busy building all of the ugly (but essential!) core systems that drive the game, and thankfully that phase is almost over, which is why I'm so happy to post brand new screenshots of our game today.

Looking at these new screenshots, it reminds me of back in the day when screenshots meant everything to me. I remember being a little tyke reading GamePro, scanning every page for exclusive new screens of Halo CE. That was back when screenshots meant something, right?

But I can tell you, these screens mean a hell of a lot to me. Last summer we decided internally to abandoned our old-school, pre-rendered background system for a fully 3D solution, which was not an easy decision. Would we be able to show you all our game and still be as proud of the visuals that we offered up last spring on Kickstarter? I think they do. These screens also mean a lot to me because they are the collective product of Camouflaj's amazing new art team. I'm so proud of the hard work we did on this new environment in Metamorphosis, which runs at a buttery 30 frames per second on iOS.

So as I reflect on my past gaming obsessions, it's a special moment for me knowing that I may now be behind new screenshots that something like my young self would pour over. And that's awesome.

We also recognize that video is pretty popular too these days, so here's a new development video for you, featuring a few sneak peeks at how nice République is looking these days. Happy Friday!

Happy New Year! January 1, 2013

It's been too long, hasn't it? Here at Camouflaj HQ we've been hard at work on Republique, and we admit, in the tunnel vision of LCD screens, computers humming and mouses clicking, we've neglected the Camouflaj website. We're sorry :(

Until then, we've posted the latest podcasts over at Camouflaj Radio to fulfill your fix for everything Republique and game development! Listen Now >>
